A thought from Pastor Ken

The Art of Simply Being

Just beyond our back porch and within perfect sight of my place of prayer are two hummingbird feeders. I so enjoy watching the hummingbirds. I don’t quite understand why they bring me such delight. Maybe it’s their fragility. Maybe it’s the way they trust to come so near. Perhaps it is the simplicity in which they come to drink. Like clockwork, they come to a feast. From early in the morning to evening time, again and again they come. There is such a sense of peace in it all.

I have often meditated upon the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25; “Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body what you shall put on.” My hummingbirds have no idea how the sweet nectar arrives, they simply drink. It is my responsibility to insure the feeders are full. It is their job to drink and be at peace. So they return daily and I am blessed by it all.

Those who have learned The Art of Simply Being have learned the secret of abiding in their heavenly Father who enjoys those intimate times when we come to feed from Him and Him alone.

I am looking forward to seeing you all this Sunday,

Many blessings,
Pastor Ken
